Wedding: the couple and both sets of parents

The couple and both sets of parents agreed to split the celebration three ways. Emma & Ben pay for the venue and photographer, Emma's parents for the catering, Ben's parents for the band and flowers.

How Split helps

  1. 01

    Who pays for what?

Every bill is added as an expense of the person who pays it. That keeps visible which household covered what.

  2. 02

    Where the money goes

The overview shows venue, food, music and decoration by category. That helps when planning the budget.

  3. 03

    Bills at handPremium

With Premium you attach photos of the bills to the expenses – useful when questions come up later.

Tips

  1. 1

Agree early who covers which part, and put it in the group.

  2. 2

Add deposits right away, not after the party.

  3. 3

Gifts from guests don't belong in the group.

Frequently asked questions

Your question isn't here? Write to us

The parents are giving a fixed amount. How do we add that?

As a transfer to the person who pays the bills. The amount then lowers that person's open balance, and the bills stay visible as expenses.

Can I see what we spend the most on?

Yes. The overview shows the expenses by category and by person, in total or for the current month.

Do deposits belong in the group?

Yes. Add every deposit when it's due. That way you see months before the party what has already been paid.
