How Split helps

    Share an invite link in your group chat. Whoever joins picks “I am …” from the list of participants in the browser – no app and no sign-up.

    The gift only among the givers

    For each expense you pick who's involved. So the givers share the gift, and everyone else stays out of it.

    Wrap up right after the party

    Split shows right away who still owes whom. If you like, add your bank details or a PayPal link so the others can copy them for the transfer.

Tips

    Create the group before the shopping starts and share the link in your chat right away.

    Only add people who chip in. Guests who are invited and don't contribute don't need to be in the group.

    Add bottle deposits or returned drinks as income. Then the settlement adds up at the end.

    Wrap up the settlement within a week, while all the receipts are still around.

Do all guests have to install an app?

No. You invite with a link. Whoever joins picks “I am …” from the list of participants in the browser and sees the settlement right away.

Does Split collect the money for the gift?

No. Split doesn't move money. The app shows who owes whom how much; the transfers happen outside Split. If you like, add your bank details or a PayPal link for others to copy.

What about guests who only joined for part of it?

For each expense you pick who took part. Whoever only came for dinner doesn't pay for breakfast.

What happens to the group after the party?

Once everything is settled and nothing has happened for 120 days, the group goes into a dormant state and is deleted after another 30 days. Split announces this in the group beforehand; tap “Keep” to keep it.
