How Split helps

  • Whoever drives adds it

Fuel, parking, tolls: the driver adds the expense, and everyone riding along shares it.

  • Take turns, settle cleanly

Split nets the costs against each other over weeks. You only settle what's left at the end.

  • Days without a passenger

Whoever doesn't ride along one day isn't selected for that expense and doesn't pay for it.

Tips

  • Agree at the start whether you share fuel costs or a fixed amount per trip.

  • Add the fill-up right at the pump.

  • Settle up once a month, so the amounts stay small.

Frequently asked questions

Your question isn't here? Write to us

How much fuel money is fair?

That's up to you. Common choices are sharing the actual fuel costs or a fixed amount per trip. Either way, you add it in Split as an expense of whoever drove.

We take turns driving. Do we even need Split?

Taking turns rarely evens out exactly: holidays, sick days or different cars shift the costs. Split shows at any time who is ahead.

What if someone doesn't ride along one day?

Only select the people who were in the car for that trip. Everyone else doesn't pay for it.
