Account and devices

Sign out devices and merge accounts

Under “Devices & sign-in” you see which devices are connected to your account and how you sign in. That's where you sign out a lost phone and bring groups from another account into yours.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the overview

Tap “Account & settings”, then “Devices & sign-in”. Your devices are at the top, your sign-in methods below.

  2. 2

    Sign out a lost device

Tap “Sign out” next to the device and confirm. The device loses access to your data right away and shows “This device is signed out”.

  3. 3

    Sign out only this device

On a shared or borrowed device, tap “Sign out this device” under “This device”. Everything from Split is deleted there; your account and groups stay, and you can sign in again any time. This works once your account has a sign-in method.

  4. 4

    Remove a sign-in method

Tap “Remove” next to a passkey or Google or Apple. You can't remove the last sign-in method, otherwise your account couldn't be restored.

  5. 5

    Merge accounts

Started on this device without signing in, and already have an account on another device? Tap “Sign in with another account”, sign in and confirm “Sign in and merge”. The groups and payment methods on this device move into your account.

Good to know

  • Merging needs an internet connection, and all changes must be synced.
  • If both accounts were in the same group, the second person stays with their entries. You can rename them or move their entries to yourself.
  • Other devices of the previous account are signed out. Sign in there again with your account.
  • If the previous account has its own annual subscription or lifetime licence, merging isn't possible. Sign in on this device with the account that purchase belongs to instead.
  • A signed-out device starts over with “Start over”. Anything not synced there yet is lost.
