Add rent and subscriptions automatically

Anything that comes up regularly you add once with an interval. Split then adds it as a normal entry on every date.

Step by step

  1. 1

Add an expense with an interval

Add the expense or income as usual. Under “Repeat” pick “Every week”, “Every month” or “Every year”, and under “First on” the first date.

  2. 2

    Set an end

Under “Ends” pick “Never”, “On a date” or “After a number of dates”, for example 12 months for a contract.

  3. 3

    Save

Tap “Save expense”. If the first date is today or already past, the entry shows up in the list right away. After that Split adds it on every date by itself.

  4. 4

    Change or stop it

Under “Recurring” in the group menu you see all recurring entries with their next date. Tap one to change the amount, split or end, or tap “Stop”.

Good to know

  • Recurring expenses are part of Premium for the group.
  • Every date becomes a normal entry. You can edit or delete it; a deleted date doesn't come back.
  • Changes apply from the next date. Entries already added stay as they are. Start and interval can't be changed; add a new recurring entry for that.
  • If the date is the 31st, Split uses the last day in shorter months.
  • Split adds due dates as soon as anyone in the group opens the app, offline too. Every date counts only once, even if several people open the app.
  • Recurring entries are only possible in the group currency.
  • If someone pays their share by standing order, for example to the main tenant, add the rent with “Several payers”: the main tenant with their part, the others with their standing order. Balances then stay settled every month without anyone adding a transfer. There are deliberately no recurring transfers: Split should only count payments that really happened.
