Browser, web app or app from the store?

Split is the same app everywhere, with the same groups. The difference is how you start it – and where it keeps its data.

Step by step

  1. 1

    In the browser

Just open the link, for example an invite from the group chat. There's nothing to install – ideal for guests and a quick look.

  2. 2

    As a web app

For everyone who uses Split often: on the home screen Split gets its own icon, opens without a browser bar, starts offline and gets reminders by push. You don't need an app store for it.

  3. 3

As an app from the store

Apps for iPhone and iPad from the App Store and for Android from Google Play are on their way. Until then, the web app is how you put Split on your home screen.

  4. 4

    Switch without losing anything

Each way keeps its own data: the app from the store separately from the browser, and on iPhone and iPad also Safari separately from the home screen. Secure your account with a passkey, Google or Apple first, then sign in under “Already have an account?” – and Split brings your groups over.

Good to know

  • Every way is free.
  • You can use several ways side by side, for example the web app on your phone and the browser on your computer. With a secured account you see the same groups everywhere.
