Change your name
Split only asks for your name the first time and then suggests it for new groups. You can change it in your account for all groups, or in one group just for that group.

Step by step

Change your name in your account
Tap “Account & settings” and enter the new name at the top under “Your name”. From now on Split suggests it for new groups.

Apply it to existing groups
If groups still use your old name, Split asks “Change it in your groups too?”. Tap “Change in these groups” or “Only for new groups”. Groups where you use a different name, such as “Dad”, stay as they are.

Change it in one group only
Open the group, tap the group menu and choose “Manage members”. Tap ✎ next to yourself, enter the name and tap “Save”.
Good to know
- Entries belong to the person, not the name. Expenses and balances stay the same when you rename.
- Any member can fix the name of a person nobody has taken yet, for example a typo. Someone who has joined changes their own name.
- When creating a group, “Change for this group” lets you use a different name right away.
- Split remembers changes offline too and syncs them later.
